Some of my readers have blamed me for my omission of the topic of the sexual practices of lesbians in my notes. This omission is not a fruit of shame, I have to say; it is not also an attempt to embellish the lesbian image and raise it above the earthly pleasures and the flesh. I have written about sexuality is several notes, but; I have always had a tendency to romanticise the sexual practices for I see no pleasure and expect no sensuality in the absence of love.
All I am writing is but a production of an experience that may be discussed or questioned; the only truth I am telling is that homosexuality is a fact, a truth, a way of life, and an alternative culture. The relationships between LGBT people deserve recognition and respect because, above all, LGBT people are human beings that should get their rights as they meet their duties in our society.
Back to common claim that LGBT relationships are exclusively based on sex, in this context, I want to note that sex is central and significant for all couples, whether straight, homosexual, or bisexual. Sex, an earthly pleasure, the congregation of the flesh and the flesh, is an important supplement to love whether for the LGBT or for others. In fact, everybody is mad and curious when it comes to sex; everybody wants to try, enjoy, discover, know and reach the summit of sexual pleasure and satisfaction. Sex, hence, is a need that is not that bad and that is vital for all of us as we search and hope to enjoy this excitement.
When talking of the LGBT people, the populace focuses on the sexual side, and to me, this seems no strange for we are speaking, in this context, about sexual orientations. Nevertheless, this does not mean, in any way, that LGBT’s thirst is exclusively for sex. Regardless of the sexual orientation, first and foremost, we all seek love and affection. We all dream of the perfect couple and the strongest love story; we all seek devotion, passion and commitment because we are all human beings endowed with feelings.
It is true that some individuals in our community prefer the sexual pleasure to the emotional excitement or “entanglement”, to use their words. But, it is true that some heterosexual individuals, too, tend to favour the sexual pleasure to the emotional exhilaration. Hence, I would say that, whether LGBT or straight, such cases do exist.
How many men have betrayed their wives? How many wives have betrayed their husbands? These questions should be asked before tackling the mischievous sexual practices of some LGBT people. What I want to say here is that sexuality, in practice and in secret, is thriving in our society; whilst sexuality, in theory and in public, is still taboo. We do, but we hate to tell; we practise, but, we deny; we enjoy, but, we condemn; we engage in, but, we do not admit.
Personally, I am against the “sex without emotional entanglement” as I am against duplicity and betrayal. I think that we should stop blaming and condemning each other because, by the end, we share the same problems and we live almost the same trends. LGBT or straight should open the path for dialogue and communication to better deal with the facts that have been denied and concealed for so many centuries.
