When we hit the So-called Democracy with a Pair of Shoes!

Satisfaction on Tunisian Faces! Shoes at Bush’s Face!

Almost five years ago, the super power, the first and strongest country in the world, the giant of economy, and the Goliath of military invaded a country in the name of democracy, “their democracy not ours”. This power killed thousands and displaced thousands more, demolished homes and schools, streets and bridges, spared none, neither a child nor a woman, raped men and women, raped the land of palm trees and history, of civilisation, and culture. Abu Ghrib stands witness to all the horror, the horror of “the finest flower of civilisation”, the horror of the savage civilised, barbarian, developed power!

The finest flower of civilisation: US

Almost five years ago, the super power, the first and strongest country in the world, the giant of economy, and the Goliath of military invaded a country in the name of democracy, “their democracy not ours”. This power killed thousands and displaced thousands more, demolished homes and schools, streets and bridges, spared none, neither a child nor a woman, raped men and women, raped the land of palm trees and history, of civilisation, and culture. Abu Ghrib stands witness to all the horror, the horror of “the finest flower of civilisation”, the horror of the savage civilised, barbarian, developed power!

I remember the words of that stupid, dim-witted leader the US people elected as President; I remember the gestures, the expressions. I was waiting for his “Ultimatum” speech that night, like many others in our Arab world; I was waiting and praying divinities and demons to halt that masquerade in a way or another. Nothing happened; a brief speech, then the first bomb hit the defiant Iraq! Bombs, so many bombs in the name of “democracy, liberation”; bombs that disregarded the international law, the sovereignty of a free country, and the dignity of the Iraqi citizens!

They claimed they were defending themselves whilst they were attacking defenceless civilians; they claimed there were weapons of mass-destruction, weapons that have never existed on the Iraqi soil. They claimed they were liberating the poor Iraqis from Saddam dictatorship, whilst they were instituting their own dictatorship and oppression: Everywhere in Iraq, they were landing to torture and massacre, to rape and burn and before our eyes, the US was revealing its true nature, not a country but a Weapon of Mass Destruction!

The ugliness was tearing the mask: They spoke of justice to hang Saddam in a gangster style; they spoke of friendship and brotherly bonds with the Iraqi nation to throw bombs, invade with tanks and raid homes! Friendship: In my culture, friendship is a noble bond between two; I have been taught to greet my friends with smiles and roses, not with guns and bullets; I have been taught to leave my bed for a friend and sleep on the bare cold floor, not to chase my friend from his bed, his home and his land! America has a special culture it seems; a culture different from ours as the unethical becomes ethical, and the immoral becomes moral: “The finest flower of civilisation”!

Arresting randomly innocent people in the streets, and killing women, children, and old people (collateral damage), America succeeded in setting up “puppet governments”; first came the marionette PM, Al-Jaafari, then came the marionette PM Maliki! Are they Iraqis? Do they feel love towards their country? Have they ever searched for the definition of “nationalism” in a dictionary? Governments that tolerate and greet occupation with roses and extend the foe’s presence on their land by signing “a security pact”, a green light for more crimes pact! PMs that shake hands with enemies, and war criminals! Puppets!

God Bless the Shoes, and the Hands that Threw Them!

I have never expected that a pair of shoes can make me so cheerful and relieved; I have never expected that a pair of shoes can make me feel swollen with pride. The effect of that pair of shoes outdid the effect of a nuclear bomb… When I learnt that the criminal Bush was making a surprise visit to Iraq, I said to myself: “Something must happen; someone has to do something!”. After all, this man has never shown the slightest regret or the least shame after all the crimes he ordered as commander-in-chief… I was expecting and waiting for something to happen, wishing that something will happen and fortunately, someone was brave enough to make this man see his ignobleness and wickedness… A Superman threw a pair of shoes at the face of the Leader of the Superpower; I have never believed in the existence of a superman; I have always thought that such a man was but mere invention!!! Fiction may turn into reality!! The unassailable should put in mind that nothing is beyond reach… Muntazer Zaidi did what all Iraqis have been dreaming of doing; Muntazer Zaidi insulted the demon and the flag that stands with fifty devilish stars; Muntazer Zaidi, a journalist, and journalists strike with pens, and shoes too!

A farewell kiss, a kiss of shoes, the ducking criminal got; “size ten” shoes, the criminal said to the media; but I say to him: “Never mind Mr President the shoes’ size for you have all the sizes of our shoes dreaming of slapping your face and bringing you all the disgrace you deserve”!

A final word: Release Muntazer Zaidi, or take us all to custody; take the whole Arab world to custody for we all approve his heroic action, and dream of smashing Bush’s head with our shoes! Release Muntazer Zaidi, a hero that you abruptly brutalised or abuse us all for we all dream of being Muntazer Zaidi!

Down with occupation! Out of our nation! Leave us alone!
